Job summary

The YMCA of Metropolitan Denver is hiring a Part-Time Swim Instructor at Southwest YMCA in Denver, CO. You will lead lessons for all ages, maintain a safe learning environment, and help participants build water safety skills.

We offer training and a supportive team, flexible afternoons/evenings/weekends, and a complimentary YMCA membership. Join us to inspire confidence in swimmers and contribute to a community-focused mission.

Qualifications

  • CPR/AED and First Aid within 30 days of hire
  • Swim Lesson Certification preferred
  • Minimum 16 years of age
  • Listen First within 6 months of hire or an action plan in place
  • Strong communication and listening skills are required

POSITION SUMMARY

Instructor Aquatics, working as part of the Aquatics team, will deliver world-class customer service and relationship building skills to create a welcoming environment at the YMCA. The individual will be responsible for providing a safe swim instruction for participants. The incumbent will also exhibit the core values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility in all aspects of their work with the YMCA.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Always maintain pool safety during swimming lessons; deliver lessons that provide students the best opportunity to acquire skills for their level
  • Educate participants on pool rules and enforce rules as required
  • Remain current on all CPR, First Aid and other safety certification training
  • Report all accidents and incidents to your supervisor immediately using properforms
  • Be visible to members at all times-work towards branch membership retention goals
  • Keep daily attendance records and complete level skill sheets
  • Beinthewater50-100% of class time
  • Communicatewithallparticipants/parents if class is being cancelled and/or rescheduled
