Job summary

The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) Collat School of Business invites applications for a full-time Instructor in Applied Statistics and Business Analytics, beginning Fall 2027. The candidate will teach applied statistics, business analytics, data mining, and AI applications in business, preparing students for a data-driven workplace.

Qualifications

• Hold a Master’s degree in Applied Statistics, Business Analytics, or a closely related field.
• Demonstrate proficiency in face-to-face and online teaching for undergraduate and graduate students.
• Ability to communicate analytical concepts clearly to business students.
• Experience developing and implementing analytics curricula.
• Proficiency with modern analytics tools (Excel, Tableau, Power BI).

Responsibilities

• Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in applied statistics, business analytics, data mining, and AI applications in business.
• Teach 8 sections combined in fall and spring (4/4, nine-month appointment) with summer teaching opportunities.
• Use effective pedagogical approaches to translate analytical concepts into real-world business applications.
• Support and mentor undergraduate and graduate students pursuing analytics-related coursework and careers.
• Contribute to curriculum development and experiential learning with industry partner projects.
• Deliver courses online and/or in-person using the Canvas Learning Management System.
• Participate in departmental and school service activities and engage with advisory boards and career events.
