Job summary

The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) invites applications for a full-time Instructor in Applied Statistics and Business Analytics in the MISQ department, beginning Fall 2027. Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Applied Statistics, Business Analytics, Management Science, Information Systems, Data Science, or closely related field.
• Demonstrated proficiency in face-to-face and online teaching for undergraduate and graduate students.
• Ability to communicate analytical and statistical concepts clearly to business students.
• Experience developing and implementing curricula related to business analytics.
• Proficiency with modern analytics tools (Excel, Tableau, Power BI).

Responsibilities

• Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in applied statistics, business analytics, data mining, and AI applications in business.
• Teach 8 sections combined in the fall and spring semesters (4/4, nine-month appointment) with potential summer teaching.
• Use effective pedagogical approaches to translate analytical concepts into real-world business applications.
• Mentor undergraduate and graduate students pursuing analytics-related coursework and careers.
• Contribute to curriculum development and experiential learning with industry-connected projects.
• Deliver courses online and/or face-to-face using Canvas; participate in department and school service activities.
