Job description

Instructional Support Assistants are responsible for providing academic support to students to help them become independent learners and achieve academic success, while also assisting faculty and staff with daily operations as needed.

Responsible for demonstrating LSSC’s core values of Caring, Communicating, Collaborating, and Celebrating when interacting with students, employees, visitors, and community members.

  • Tutor and provide general assistance to students and community patrons in an atmosphere conducive to learning. Tutoring includes online, face-to-face, and group sessions.
  • Mentor peer assistants.
  • Continually improve knowledge of subject area(s) and tutoring skills.
  • Assist or attend workshops and seminars for students, faculty, and staff.
  • Encourage students and community patrons to develop confidence and become independent learners.
  • Maintain work confidentiality.
  • Encourage students to develop confidence and to become more independent learners.

  • Follow all rules, guidelines, and procedures
  • Maintain and submit accurate time sheets

  • Ability to travel amongst various campuses and attend College events, on or off campus, as required.
  • Required:
    1. Associate degree
    2. Completion of Algebra through Calculus I (MAT1033 through MAC2311) with a grade of A or B.
    3. Minimum overall GPA of 2.5.
  • Preferred:
    1. Bachelor’s degree in Math or Math related field.
    2. One to three years of teaching or tutoring experience in the specialization area;
