Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• College level coursework or passing of No Child Left Behind Act requirements.
• Prior experience working with special needs children desirable.

Responsibilities

• Assist students with reading, language arts, mathematics, and computer instruction.
• Work with students individually and in small groups to reinforce learning.
• Assist with administration and correction of classroom exercises and assessments.
• Assist in preparations and strategies to reinforce instructional materials per student needs.
• Maintain records documenting student learning and performance.
• Support classroom behavioral management to keep a safe, on-task environment.
• Supervise non-instructional areas (lunch, bus, playground, study hall).
• Accompany students on field trips for supervision.
• Assist with parent contact to foster involvement in education.
• Support students with disabilities to maximize inclusion and participation.
