Job summary

WHARTON ISD is seeking a classroom aide to support certified staff in meeting instructional goals and freeing teachers for curriculum development and other duties.

You will guide students, reinforce reading, language arts, math, and computer instruction, and assist with assessments and materials. Travel between schools may be required; high school diploma and basic coursework are required.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• College coursework or No Child Left Behind Act completion preferred.
• Experience with special needs students desirable.

Responsibilities

• Assists and guides students to reinforce reading, language arts, mathematics, computer instruction, and other skills.
• Works with students individually and in small groups to reinforce learning and implement programs.
• Assists professional staff in administration and correction of classroom exercises, tests and assessments.
• Assists in classroom preparations and strategies for reinforcing instructional materials.
• Assists with record-keeping procedures documenting student learning and performance.
• Assists with classroom behavioral management to minimize disruptions and keep students on task.
• Assists with supervision in non-instructional areas (lunch, bus duty, playground, study hall).
• Accompanies students on field trips for supervision.
• Constructs and distributes educational materials as needed.
• Assists teacher with parent contact to foster involvement.
• Supports students with special needs to maximize inclusion and participation.
