Job summary

Exeter SAU 16 seeks a dedicated classroom assistant to support certified staff and students, reinforcing reading, math, and other instructional activities. This role helps free teachers for curriculum development and other duties, including supervision during lunch and bus duty.

The position involves assisting with IEP-related activities and ensuring a safe, inclusive learning environment for students with special needs, under direct supervision of the principal.

Qualifications

• Experience assisting certified staff in classroom settings.
• Ability to reinforce reading, language arts, math and computer instruction.
• Ability to assist with IEP processes and work with students with disabilities.

Responsibilities

• Assist students individually and in small groups to reinforce learning.
• Support professional staff with administration of classroom exercises, tests and assessments.
• Assist with classroom preparations and instructional materials for individual needs.
• Assist with record-keeping of student learning and performance.
• Supervise lunch programs, buses, playgrounds, study halls and other non-instructional areas.
• Accompany students on field trips for supervision.
