Job summary

Cal Poly Pomona seeks an Instructional Laboratory Support professional to provide comprehensive laboratory preparation and instructional assistance for microbiology, molecular biology, and cell biology labs.

The role includes coordinating setups with faculty, maintaining cultures and reagents, managing stockroom inventory, and supervising student assistants to ensure safe, efficient instructional operations serving hundreds of students per term.

Qualifications

• Experience in providing instructional support services for biology laboratories.
• Knowledge of biology laboratory safety standards and compliance.
• Ability to organize and schedule work, manage stockrooms, and coordinate supplies.
• Experience training and supervising student assistants or TAs.

Responsibilities

• Independently support laboratory preparation and instructional support for multiple BIO labs.
• Coordinate laboratory setup with faculty and TAs, ensuring supplies and materials are available.
• Maintain microbial cultures, tissue culture materials, and other resources to ensure quality and safety.
• Oversee stockroom inventory and procurement for instructional laboratories.
• Lead the daily work assignments of student assistants and supervise staff.
