Job summary

Cal Poly Pomona is hiring an Instructional Laboratory Support Technician III to assist Biology teaching labs and research. The role supports BIO course labs, maintains microbial cultures, and oversees stockrooms with a focus on safety and SOP compliance.

The position offers full-time, on-site work from Monday to Friday, 8:00am–5:00pm, with a monthly anticipated hiring range of $5,044 to $5,569. A background in microbiology lab operations and equipment maintenance is essential.

Qualifications

• Combination of four years of instructional support experience for a related unit or discipline, or substituted education as described in the posting.
• Knowledge of the principles and methods related to performing support services and familiarity with lab materials and safety requirements.
• Ability to plan, organize and schedule work; operate and repair technical equipment; coordinate support services across a department.

Responsibilities

• Support laboratory preparation and instructional activities for BIO courses.
• Coordinate lab setup with faculty and TAs; ensure supplies, cultures, media, PPE, and resources are available.
• Maintain microbial and tissue culture materials; ensure quality, viability and safety compliance.
• Provide technical guidance in preparing microbiological media and reagents following SOPs.
• Maintain, calibrate, and store laboratory equipment used in microbiology, molecular biology, and cell biology labs.
• Assist instructors with lab preparation sheets and instructional support materials.
