Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in the biological sciences.
• Minimum of 2 years of laboratory work experience; undergrad research counts.
• Experience preparing solutions, media, and bacterial cultures.
• Experience with aseptic technique and introductory molecular techniques such as PCR.
• Experience procuring and maintaining lab equipment and materials.
• Experience and knowledge of lab safety protocols and chemical/biological waste disposal.
• Experience supervising and training others in a work setting.

Responsibilities

• Researches, procures, and maintains laboratory supplies and equipment.
• Sets up, takes down, and organizes equipment and materials for course laboratories.
• Assists instructors in developing new lab exercises and testing/feasibility of new protocols.
• Trains, instructs, and supervises student lab assistants and support personnel.
• Provides instructional and technical support for laboratory personnel and teaching assistants.

Education

Bachelor’s or Master’s in biological sciences

2+ years lab experience
