Job summary

Montgomery College is seeking a full-time Physical Therapy Assistant faculty member at the Takoma Park-Silver Spring campus to begin January 2027. The successful candidate will teach didactic, laboratory, and clinical courses, use diverse delivery methods, and contribute to accreditation efforts while supporting student success in a multicultural college setting.

Qualified applicants will hold a Bachelor’s degree (Master’s preferred), valid PT/ PTA license, and Maryland licensure eligibility.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Active PT license or PTA license.
  • Current Maryland license or eligible to obtain Maryland license.
  • Three years post-licensure clinical experience in physical therapy.
  • Demonstrated excellence in classroom instruction.
  • Experience integrating technology into course delivery using an LMS.
  • Commitment to inclusive and equitable teaching practices.
  • Authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Responsibilities

  • Teach a variety of didactic, laboratory, and clinical courses.
  • Teach 30 semester hours per academic year; some summer teaching may occur.
  • Participate in accreditation activities and maintain standards.
  • Contribute to program evaluation, curriculum design, and outcomes assessment.
  • Provide support to the program and clinical coordinator as needed.
  • Travel within the DC, MD, and VA area to clinical sites.
  • Engage in service on committees and maintain professional development.

Montgomery College, Takoma Park-Silver Spring campus is seeking anoutstanding full-time Physical Therapy Assistant facultymember beginning January 2027. We are seeking an enthusiasticprofessional with a strong commitment to health science educationand the ability to motivate and engage students to succeed.

The Physical Therapist Assistant Program at Montgomery College isaccredited by the Commission on Accreditation in Physical TherapyEducation (CAPTE). This position is part of a collective bargainingunit.

The successful candidate will demonstrate a commitment to student success, working in a multi-cultural environment, commitment to the community college mission, and have effective oral and written communication skills. Outstanding candidates with a passion forteaching physical therapy are particularly encouraged to join the dedicated faculty of the Montgomery College Allied HealthSciences Department.

Teaching assignments may include various delivery modes, such as face-to-face, on-line, hybrid and/or blended formats during days,evenings and weekends. Montgomery College has multiple campuses and faculty may be assigned to teach in-person at any of these campusesand teach online. This position is part of a collective bargainingunit.

Duties include but are not limited to:
  • Teach a variety of didactic, laboratory, and clinical courseswithin the Physical Therapy Assistant program.
  • Teach 30 semester hours per academic year. Opportunities mayexist to teach summer classes.
  • Participate in accreditation activities and abide by accreditation guidelines and standards.
  • Participate in discipline-related activities such as programevaluation, curriculum design, and outcomes assessment andevaluation.
  • Provide support to the program and clinical coordinator asneeded.
  • Travel within the DC, Maryland, and Virginia area to visit clinical sites affiliated with the program.
  • Faculty members are expected to serve on departmental, campus,and/or college committees, hold office hours, advise students,participate in course and program assessment, and maintain anactive personal program of professional development and continuouslearning.
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Active PT license or PTA license
  • Current Maryland license, in good standing, or eligibility toobtain a Maryland License.
  • Three (3) years full-time or equivalent post-licensure clinicalexperience in physical therapy practice in any United Statesjurisdiction .
  • Demonstrated excellence in classroom instruction using avariety of teaching methods.
  • Experience integrating technology into course deliveryincluding the use of a learning management system (LMS).
  • Experience utilizing high-impact teaching pedagogies to fosterstudent engagement and active learning .
  • Demonstrated commitment to inclusive and equitable teachingpractices and support of a diverse student population.
  • Demonstrated effective collaboration with colleagues.
  • Eligible applicants must currently be authorized to work in theUnited States and not require employer visa sponsorship
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master’s degree
  • Experience teaching college-level physical therapy usingresearch-based instructional strategies
  • Evidence of commitment to professional development andscholarly activities.
  • Experience supporting students to overcome barriers to academicsuccess.
Hiring Range: $64,510 - $98,220
