Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking an experienced Instructional Designer to lead end-to-end course development for instructor-led and eLearning materials. You will perform needs analysis, design learning experiences, and create detailed storyboards with interactive elements.

You will collaborate with SMEs, stakeholders, and engineering teams to ensure alignment with objectives and learner readiness. Ideal candidates hold a Master’s in Instructional Design (or related field) with 3+ years of ID experience, or

Qualifications

  • Active Secret clearance required. US citizenship required.
  • Master's degree in Instructional Design or related field with 3+ years in an ID role, or Bachelor's with 5+ years in ID.
  • End-to-end creation of instructor-led and/or eLearning materials.
  • Subject matter expertise in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Proficiency with courseware authoring tools such as Articulate 360.
  • Experience conducting task analysis using the SAT method.
  • Knowledge of adult learning theories including Knowles and Gagné.
  • Experience with ADDIE, SAT, and SAM instructional design models.
  • Experience developing interactive multimedia instruction and interactive eLearning solutions.
  • Strong written communication and documentation skills.
  • Ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear instructional materials.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal direction.
  • Flexibility in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct root-cause analysis to identify training needs.
  • Identify performance gaps, audience characteristics, and constraints.
  • Translate findings into design requirements and instructional strategies.
  • Create storyboards for video and eLearning, including scripts and interactivity.
  • Align analysis results with objectives and learner readiness.
  • Collaborate with instructional designers, SMEs, stakeholders, writers, support, and engineers.
  • Develop instructor/participant guides, classroom activities, and scenarios.
  • Apply scenario-based and problem-based learning to promote critical thinking.
  • Develop learning analytics and assessment strategies to measure impact.
  • Perform QA reviews, content updates, and continuous improvement.
  • Interview SMEs to identify training needs.
  • Manage multiple projects using agile or iterative methods.
  • Deliver training for Sherpa 6 employees and DoW partners.

Job description

  • Conduct root-cause analysis to identify true training needs
  • Identify performance gaps, target audience characteristics, and environmental constraints
  • Translate analysis findings into design requirements and instructional strategies
  • Create detailed storyboards for video and computer-based training, including scripts, on-screen text, and interactive elements
  • Maintain alignment from analysis results through learning objectives, training content, and operational learner readiness
  • Collaborate with instructional designers, subject matter experts, stakeholders, technical writing, customer support, and engineering teams
  • Develop presentations, instructor and participant guides, classroom activities, scenario-based exercises, and other training materials
  • Apply scenario-based training and problem-based learning to promote critical thinking and decision-making
  • Develop learning analytics and assessment strategies to measure and improve training impact
  • Conduct quality assurance reviews, content updates, and continuous improvement based on feedback
  • Interview subject matter experts to identify training needs
  • Manage multiple concurrent projects using agile or iterative methodologies

Requirements
