Job summary

The University of Washington's Global Innovation Exchange (GIX) is seeking an Instructional Designer to partner with faculty and program leadership to enhance graduate-level learning through design, curriculum development, and continuous improvement.

The role includes designing multi-modal courses in Canvas, coaching faculty, coordinating curriculum changes, and developing materials for external engagements, with opportunities for partial remote work.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Education, Instructional Design, Educational Technology, Communication, or related field.
• At least three years of instructional design experience in higher education or nonprofit settings.
• Expert or near-expert with Canvas LMS and accessibility standards (ADA/WCAG).

Responsibilities

• Multi-modal course creation using Canvas templates and backward design.
• Provide design-focused feedback, coach faculty, and deliver instructional development sessions.
• Review course evaluations to guide improvements and modality transitions.
• Coordinate curriculum changes through UW CM/Kuali and university committees.
• Develop curricula for external engagements with industry partners.
