DigiKey Electronics is seeking an Instructional Designer intern to develop training curricula and materials for employee development. The role blends in-person and virtual instruction and requires regular onsite attendance at DigiKey's Thief River Falls campus with housing provided for interns.

The intern will apply core instructional design theories, collaborate with SMEs, and deliver measurable learning outcomes across multiple formats, including eLearning and live sessions.

Qualifications

  • Rising junior or senior pursuing a degree in instructional design, LXD, educational technology, or related field.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to design and plan curricula for in-person, virtual, and eLearning formats.

Responsibilities

  • Create immersive educational experiences for DigiKey audiences.
  • Apply instructional design principles to maximize learning outcomes.
  • Plan, organize and develop training curricula for multiple modalities.
  • Collaborate with SMEs, vendors, and internal stakeholders.
  • Coordinate skills assessments and training, and monitor effectiveness.
  • Research and implement new technologies for classroom and virtual instruction.

The Instructional Designer intern utilizes their foundational understanding of instructional design models to produce impactful, measurable results, while fostering a collaborative and productive learning environment that captures the audience’s attention and helps them meet their development goals.This is a hybrid or essential onsite role, which will require onsite attendance.This internship is located in DigiKey’s corporate headquarters in Thief River Falls, MN and will require regular onsite attendance. Local housing is provided for interns.Responsibilities:Create immersive educational experiences for DigiKey audiencesApply core instructional design principles and theories to maximize learningPlan, organize and develop training curricula, materials and programs, for in-person, virtual and eLearning training programsCollaborate with subject matter experts, vendors, and internal stakeholders for curriculum designPlan and coordinate skills assessments and trainingAssess and update learning objectives, developing and monitoring metrics for evaluating training, and development effectivenessResearch and implement new technologies into classroom and virtual instructionNothing in this job description restricts management's right to assign or reassign duties and responsibilities to this job at any timeRequired Knowledge, Skills, and Experience:A rising Junior or Senior currently pursuing a degree in instructional design, learning experience design (LXD), educational technology, educational psychology or related field.Ability to use instructional materials and resources effectivelyCritical-thinking skillsConcrete verbal and written communication skillsIn-depth understanding of instructional design models and adult learning theoriesClear and effective curriculum-planning skillsAbility to navigate difficult and complex problems with professionalismBe willing to take the initiative, working independently and collaborativelyPreferred QualificationsStrong project management skillsTools/Systems/SoftwareFull Microsoft Office Suite, including Teams and OutlookLearning management systems, preferably WorkdayProficiency in course development software, preferably ArticulatePhysical Requirements:Generally, spend the workday sitting at a workstation and operating computer devices, such as, but not limited to keyboard, mouse, and screenGenerally, spend the workday performing repetitive motions that involve or affect the hands, head, and other parts of your bodyCompensation:The base pay range for this position is determined based on a candidate’s relevant experience and their most recently completed year of undergraduate education and/or the graduate program (Masters/PhD) they are pursuing.For undergraduate applicants, the base pay range is $21.00 to $23.00.For graduate applicants, the base pay rate is $26.00 for applicants pursuing a Masters degree and $29.00 for those pursuing a PhD.______________________________________________________________________Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without the need for employment-based immigration sponsorship, now or in the future.
