DigiKey is seeking an Instructional Designer intern to develop training curricula and materials across employee learning programs. The role combines classroom, virtual, and eLearning delivery with collaboration across subject matter experts and internal stakeholders.
The internship is located at DigiKey’s headquarters in Thief River Falls, MN with regular on-site attendance and local housing provided for interns. Applicants must be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.

The Instructional Designer intern is responsible for developing training curriculum and materials for targeted functional areas by creating, delivering, and overseeing educational materials for employee and career training and development. The Instructional Designer intern utilizes their foundational understanding of instructional design models to produce impactful, measurable results, while fostering a collaborative and productive learning environment that captures the audience’s attention and helps them meet their development goals. This is a hybrid or essential onsite role, which will require onsite attendance. This internship is located in DigiKey’s corporate headquarters in Thief River Falls, MN and will require regular onsite attendance. Local housing is provided for interns.
Create immersive educational experiences for DigiKey audiences Apply core instructional design principles and theories to maximize learning Plan, organize and develop training curricula, materials and programs, for in-person, virtual and eLearning training programs Collaborate with subject matter experts, vendors, and internal stakeholders for curriculum design Plan and coordinate skills assessments and training Assess and update learning objectives, developing and monitoring metrics for evaluating training, and development effectiveness Research and implement new technologies into classroom and virtual instruction Nothing in this job description restricts management's right to assign or reassign duties and responsibilities to this job at any time
A rising Junior or Senior currently pursuing a degree in instructional design, learning experience design (LXD), educational technology, educational psychology or related field. Ability to use instructional materials and resources effectively Critical-thinking skills Concrete verbal and written communication skills In-depth understanding of instructional design models and adult learning theories Clear and effective curriculum-planning skills Ability to navigate difficult and complex problems with professionalism Be willing to take the initiative, working independently and collaboratively
Strong project management skills.
Full Microsoft Office Suite, including Teams and Outlook Learning management systems, preferably Workday Proficiency in course development software, preferably Articulate
Generally, spend the workday sitting at a workstation and operating computer devices, such as, but not limited to keyboard, mouse, and screen Generally, spend the workday performing repetitive motions that involve or affect the hands, head, and other parts of your body
The base pay range for this position is determined based on a candidate’s relevant experience and their most recently completed year of undergraduate education and/or the graduate program (Masters/PhD) they are pursuing. For undergraduate applicants, the base pay range is $21.00 to $23.00. For graduate applicants, the base pay rate is $26.00 for applicants pursuing a Masters degree and $29.00 for those pursuing a PhD.
