The State of Iowa, Iowa DOT Employee Development Bureau in Ames, seeks an Instructional Design Intern to help create engaging online learning experiences for our 2600 employees. You will design, build, update, and promote eLearning modules under supervision, applying adult learning principles and clear communication.

You’ll collaborate with instructional designers and subject‑matter experts, translate complex content for non‑technical audiences, and contribute interactive elements such as

• Assisting in the design and development of online training modules.
• Collaborating with instructional designers and subject‑matter experts to gather content.
• Translating technical information into clear, engaging learning experiences for non‑technical audiences.
• Applying instructional design principles and adult learning best practices to course development.
• Creating interactive learning elements such as knowledge checks, scenarios and multimedia components.
• Reviewing and revising course content for clarity, accessibility, and quality.
• Supporting updates and improvements to existing training materials.
• Participating in project meetings and contributing ideas to enhance learner engagement.
• Interacting with DOT teammates and stakeholders.
