Job summary

Binghamton University seeks Instructional Course Builders to craft high-quality online courses with faculty SMEs. You will transform course materials into asynchronous offerings focused on engagement, accessibility, and RSI, using tools like Articulate Storyline, Camtasia, and the Adobe Suite.

This fully in-person role is based at the Vestal, NY campus. A Bachelor's degree is required; familiarity with LMSs and WCAG 2.2 is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Build high-quality online courses with faculty SMEs, in-person and via Zoom.
• Create HTML/CSS pages, content modules, assignments, discussions, rubrics, quizzes, and gradebook.
• Ensure RSI and web accessibility compliance (WCAG 2.x/2.2) and Title IV requirements.
• Use educational tech tools (Articulate Storyline, Camtasia, Adobe Suite) to produce engaging content.
• Manage multiple build timelines and coordinate with instructional designers and staff.

Budget Title: Instructional Support Technician (SL-3)

Salary: $64,000 - $71,000 (commensurate with experience)

Binghamton University seeks Instructional Course Builders to build high-quality online courses. As part of the instructional design team, you will work with faculty to transform their course materials into asynchronous online courses, focusing on engagement and academic rigor, while ensuring accessibility and compliance to educational and accessibility standards.

This is a fully in-person position located at Binghamton University's main campus in Vestal, NY.

• Use educational technology tools (such as Articulate Storyline, Camtasia, Adobe Suite, etc.) to create online learning content that engages students and supports accessible learning and regular and substantive interaction (RSI)


• Assist faculty SMEs in making sure their course content is aligned and properly scaffolded


• Assist faculty SMEs in making sure their online courses meet Title IV requirements for regular and substantive interaction (RSI) and federal and state requirements for web accessibility, such as WCAG 2.2


• Evaluate online courses for pedagogical quality and other standards (accessibility, RSI, etc.) using proven rubrics (OSCQR, Quality Matters) and supporting faculty through any necessary changes


• Manage multiple build timelines, keeping faculty on track


• Work alongside course builders, instructional designers, and other educational professionals to provide quality support for online education

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• The ability to collaborate effectively with stakeholders through a project from start to finish


• The ability to creatively apply technologies and multimedia solutions to real-world education or training challenges


• Knowledge of New York State and U.S. Federal accessibility standards


• Ability to communicate pedagogical concepts to technical and non-technical clients/audiences


• Knowledge of instructional design models (backwards design, ADDIE, etc.)

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree


• Customer service experience


• Experience managing multiple projects with competing deadlines


• Experience working with learning management systems (Brightspace, Canvas, Blackboard, etc.)

Preferred:

• A Master's degree in education, educational technology, instructional design, or a related field


• Experience using HTML/CSS


• Experience building courses in Brightspace


• Experience modifying learning materials to meet accessibility standards
