New Paradigm For Education (NPFE) is a non-profit Charter Management Organization (CMO) composed of educational practitioners, community advocates, and business leaders dedicated to serving children. NPFE manages all phases of school design, planning, and program implementation, serving 2,100 students in Detroit, Michigan.

Position Overview

The Instructional Coach supports teachers in NPFE's Educator Development Institute (EDI), focusing on implementing high-quality curriculum across content areas, improving instructional practices, and driving student achievement, particularly in reading. The coach will work under the supervision of the Director of the EDI and will help close achievement gaps and accelerate reading learning.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Ability to work part-time
  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in education
  • Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate
  • 5+ years teaching experience
  • Skillful in data-driven instructional conversations
  • Experience leading adult learning and developing teachers
  • Understanding of instructional needs of Multilingual Learners and students with learning differences

Duties & Responsibilities

Instruction and Development
  • Provide instructional leadership to develop teacher proficiency and success in curriculum implementation
  • Coach teachers on lesson planning, classroom management, instructional practices, and data use
  • Design and facilitate targeted professional development
  • Conduct curricular meetings with full teacher participation
  • Support classroom instruction through co-teaching, modeling, and coaching
  • Participate in professional development and site visits to learn and share best practices
Planning and Assessments
  • Review student achievement data and recommend instructional adjustments
  • Organize and explain assessment processes to staff
  • Manage curricular materials and resources
  • Develop staff development plans based on data
  • Analyze assessment data to identify students for additional support
  • Report assessment findings and improvement plans to staff and community
  • Perform other duties as assigned
