Title: Instructional Coach, (Elementary)
Reports To: Principal
Employee Type: Permanent, School Year Only, Salaried, Exempt
Summary
To provide guidance and professional development for teachers, staff, and administration to build capacity and understanding of instructional practices. Models continuous improvement and lifelong learning to ensure student success. Responsible for ensuring high-quality instruction in classrooms through modeling, co-planning, co-teaching, observing, and providing feedback to teachers. This is not a supervisory position and does not include evaluation of colleagues.

- Support the development of all teachers in understanding the CCS curriculum and varied assessments, the Framework for Teaching, and data analysis
- Remain knowledgeable of current and past research regarding instructional practices, strategies, and skills necessary to effectively impact student achievement
- Provide job-embedded informal professional learning beyond the coaching responsibility
- Support teachers and administrators in using data to improve instructional practices to increase student achievement at all levels
- Collaborate with building principals to ensure implementation of CCS curriculum by CCS faculty
- Assist teachers with planning and pacing of instruction, the development of differentiated lessons, and the selection of best practices to meet the needs of their students
- Regularly models lessons in classrooms
- Assist in professional development (UDL)
- Provide support with PSSA's
- Assist with Intentional Planning and L4L's
- Informally observe (non-evaluative) lessons and provide feedback for a teacher’s professional growth and students’ success
- Work as a member of the curriculum team to research, develop, and write curriculum to ensure ongoing alignment to PA Core Standards and CCS initiatives
- Assists in the coordination and implementation of the PSSAs, Keystones, and AP Exams alongside the SAC and DAC
- Enforces the CCS Student Code of Conduct, the CCS Uniform Code, and the CCS Computer Usage Code
- Promotes good citizenship through actions as a role model
- Conducts himself or herself according to professional, ethical principles that reflect favorably upon the individual and the school
- Maintains highest level of confidentiality pertaining to school and students’ information, progress, and records
- Assumes other responsibilities assigned by supervisor and/or school administrator
- Abides by the CCS Employee Manual, CCS policies and procedures, and all current PA Public School expectations
Qualifications
- A four-year college degree and PA Level II Teacher Certification in the relevant area(s). If certification is from a different state, PA certification must be obtained within determined a timeframe.
- Instructional Coach PK-12 Endorsement preferred
- Minimum 5 years’ experience teaching, with a record of successfully impacting student achievement and working successfully with students who have the greatest needs
- Proven ability to work collaboratively and effectively with colleagues
- Strong pedagogical knowledge and content expertise
- Knowledge and skills to implement a standards-based education system and understanding of the PA Assessment Anchors
- Interpersonal problem-solving and organizational skills required to effectively facilitate coaching and staff professional development
- Proven ability to analyze and apply student-level data to guide instructional decisions
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Knowledge of basic computer operations
- Required Clearances include Criminal Background Clearance (Act 34), Child Abuse Clearance (Act 151), and FBI Fingerprint Clearance (Act 114), all dated within one year of receipt
- Meets criteria for employment in a PA Public School
