Job summary

Mesquite ISD in Mesquite, TX is seeking a Secondary Instructional Coach to strengthen instructional practices district-wide by implementing the Coaching Framework and providing job-embedded professional development.

You will model effective instruction, support planning and data analysis, and help teachers align with TEKS and district priorities, building capacity and ensuring high-quality Tier 1 instruction.

Qualifications

  • Texas teaching certificate required.
  • Master's degree preferred.
  • Experience coaching adults and PLCs.
  • Strong data-analysis and planning skills.

Responsibilities

  • Provide instructional coaching through observation, feedback, coaching cycles, co-teaching, and modeling lessons aligned to teacher goals and student needs.
  • Support the continuous professional growth and improvement of teacher instructional skills through coaching and collaborative problem solving.
  • Support teachers in planning and delivering high-quality Tier 1 instruction aligned to TEKS, district expectations, and best practices.
  • Support implementation of district curriculum and assessment systems.
  • Support the integration and implementation of Technology Applications TEKS and effective instructional technology tools to enhance instruction and student learning.
  • Facilitate data meetings, assist teachers with data analysis, and help develop targeted plans for student growth.
  • Design and deliver campus and district, job-embedded professional learning aligned to campus needs and district initiatives.
  • Facilitate and support effective PLC practices that include data analysis, collaborative planning, and progress monitoring.
  • Provide resources, tools, and coaching strategies that support teacher growth and instructional effectiveness.
  • Establish and maintain clear communication and collaborative relationships with district leadership, campus administrators, teachers, and support staff.
  • Model professionalism, confidentiality, and a solutions-oriented approach.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Position Type: Professional - Teacher Level (Secondary) / Secondary Instructional Coach

Teacher Compensation Plan
Shift Type: Full-Time
Wage/Hour Status: Exempt
Reports To: Principal/Executive Director - Professional Learning
This position is funded with Title 1, Part A funds, and continued funding of this position will be based on the availability of Title 1, Part A funds.

Employment Begins: As soon as possible

Primary Purpose
  • A non-evaluative, collaborative district employee who supports campuses in strengthening instructional practices that improve student learning through the implementation of our district Coaching Framework.
  • Provides job-embedded professional development, models effective instruction, supports planning and data analysis, and assists teachers in implementing district curriculum and instructional priorities.
  • Builds teacher capacity and promotes consistent, high-quality instruction across the district.
Qualifications

Education/Certification:

  • Valid Texas teaching certificate
  • Master\'s degree (preferred)
Special Knowledge/Skills
  • Deep understanding of effective instructional practices and TEKS-aligned instruction
  • Knowledge of district curriculum resources, assessment systems, classroom management, and instructional frameworks
  • Ability to coach adults using models such as coaching cycles, observation/feedback, and co-planning
  • Effective communication, coaching, and interpersonal skills for working with adult learners
  • Ability to analyze data and support data-driven instructional planning
  • Deep understanding of formative assessment practices and PLC structures
  • Ability to build supportive, non-evaluative coaching relationships with teachers
  • Ability to maintain trusting, confidential relationships with teachers
  • Ability to develop, deliver, and facilitate professional learning
  • Strong organizational and technology skills
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively
  • Possess knowledge and understanding of policies and procedures of MISD
Experience
  • 5 years of successful classroom teaching experience
