  • Collaborate with staff teams and participate in committees.

  • Recommend classroom materials and supplies.

Job description

The Instructional Coach applies professional expertise in early childhood education to provide support, mentoring and training to teachers and other program staff to promote effective, developmentally appropriate classroom instruction individualized to the needs of each child and family.Core Duties and ResponsibilitiesAssists teachers in creating classroom environments that are conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students by: 1) Observing classroom instruction and providing feedback; 2) Demonstrating lessons for teachers; 3) Conducting small and large group trainings; 4) Act as a ‘coach’ in providing assistance.Develops and demonstrates lessons that reflect accommodations for individual differences.Supports teachers in guiding the learning process toward the achievement of state and local curriculum goals. Assists teachers in establishing clear objectives for all lessons, units, and projects, and in communicating these objectives to the students.Monitors screenings, observation and documentation of student progress in GOLD.Assists teachers in the appropriate assessment of children’s development and accomplishments and assists in the referral process.Monitors classroom set-up and teacher/child interactions through the Classroom Assessment Scoring System.Keeps current with latest research on best practices in early childhood education and uses knowledge to develop materials, policies and training materials for teachers and other staff.Provides staff development, conducts staff meetings, and serves on staff committees as requested.Communicates effectively in both written and oral forms with all levels of management, both internal and external to the agency.Provides recommendations to the Senior Child Development Services Coordinator on the purchase of necessary classroom materials and supplies.Other duties as assigned.Education and/or ExperienceBachelor Degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development or related field requiredA minimum of three (3) years teaching experience
