About the Position

The Instructional Assistant Professor / Instructor position willjoin an existing team of faculty teaching who are primarilyresponsible for the teaching of BUS 103-Developing YourProfessional Skills: Foundational Elements and BUS 303-DevelopingYour Professional Skills: Advanced Elements in undergraduateprograms. As a member of this team, they will teach effectively,positively contribute to the academic environment, and provideservice to the Business Foundations Area, the Costello College ofBusiness, the university, and the profession. The Instructor orInstructional Assistant Professor is also expected to interfacewith students and the business community.

The intent of the courses is both to provide a background forpromoting success in the undergraduate program and to preparestudents for successful entry into professional careers at theconclusion of their undergraduate programs. In accomplishing this,BUS 103 will include material applicable from the perspectives ofnot only students but also professionals including time management,relationship building, working in teams, academic integrity andethics, and the enhancement of capabilities in writing andpresentations. BUS 303 will cover topics such as understanding themodern work environment (e.g., working in teams, diversity in theworkplace, and cross-cultural personal competencies), developingleadership skills, business ethics and professionalresponsibilities, and engaging in the job search process.

Responsibilities
  • Teaches business courses in undergraduate programs. Theteaching load for this position is 4 courses per semester for falland spring or as determined by the College’s workload policy.Teaching may include both face to face and online offerings, withan emphasis on face to face; and
  • Additional responsibilities include service to the FoundationsArea, the Costello College of Business, the university, and theprofession, such as academic community engagement, studentmentoring, committee membership, and interfacing with the businesscommunity.
Required Qualifications
  • Master’s degree with a minimum of 18 hours of graduate work inbusiness or a related field;
  • Experience teaching at the postsecondary level;
  • Experience in business or another relevant field;
  • Significant teaching experience in face-to-face and familiaritywith teaching in online environments with the ability to creatematerials, and supporting existing programs;
  • Strong teaching capabilities which enable introducingundergraduate students to the business environment, and knowledgeof trends in the workplace;
  • Ability to aid students in developing the background and skillsthat will contribute to successful transitions to employmentopportunities; and
  • Good citizenship in terms of service is critical, as is theability to work well with colleagues.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Terminal degree in a related field.
