Job summary

Fruitport Community Schools in Michigan is seeking an Instructional Assistant, LRE to support students with disabilities in the Eastern Service Unit. This role works under the Special Education department to implement instructional plans and assist with daily living skills.

Responsibilities include supervising students on bus, in hallways and during community outings, assisting with materials and record keeping, and applying Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Associates Degree or successful completion of the WorkKeys.
• Experience with children with disabilities.

Responsibilities

• Able to lift and/or assist with physical transfer of students.
• Carry out instructional plans of the teacher with individual children or small groups.

• Assist teacher with record-keeping responsibilities.
• Assist teacher with preparation of materials.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the classroom teacher.
• Knowledge of and ability to implement Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports.
