Pendleton Juvenile Correctional Facility is a maximum‑security facility located in Pendleton, Indiana, with 391 beds for incarcerated juvenile males. The facility includes multiple general population housing complexes, an admission and orientation unit, and a secure housing area. Its campus‑style layout includes medical services, food and laundry operations, indoor recreation areas, a chapel, and Providence Jr./Sr. High School. Outdoor recreation areas include fields, courts, and a running track. The perimeter is monitored 24/7 to ensure safety. In this role as an Instructional Assistant, you will serve as an assistant to Classroom Teachers at Pendleton Juvenile Correctional Facility. Students may include mentally or physically handicapped, socially, or emotionally disturbed delinquents, or multiple handicapped persons. Your role will be to assist in the clerical preparations of daily and weekly lesson plans, recording of progress and performance of students, and to assist on field trips or experiential learning. You may also assist with special activities or student organizations and assist students in coursework. Instructional Assistants report directly to the Supervisor of Education and perform duties with general supervision. You will be responsible for assisting in the maintenance of discipline in the classroom and the school building. You may be required to participate in faculty and professional meetings, educational conferences, and teacher training workshops.
The salary for this position traditionally starts at $34,216.00 but may be commensurate with education and work experience. Use our Compensation Calculator to view the total compensation package.
A degree is not required. However, at least two (2) years of full‑time experience in an Educational Institution or related area applying the outlined knowledge, skills, and abilities in a similar role may be considered.
