Job summary

Jonathan Alder Local School District is seeking an Instructional Aide for a 7-hour day with a 30-minute unpaid lunch. The role supports certified staff by assisting students in reading, math, language arts, and computer instruction, enabling teachers to focus on curriculum development.

The position requires teamwork, patience with diverse learners, and adherence to safety and confidentiality. Benefits align with district standards and you may work across school buildings as needed.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Completion of college level coursework or passing of examination as required by the No Child Left Behind Act.
• Pass BCI/FBI background checks and obtain Aide License or equivalent through Ohio Department of Education.

Responsibilities

• Assist students with reading, language arts, mathematics, computer instruction.
• Work with students individually and in small groups to reinforce basic learning and implement programs.
• Assist teachers with classroom exercises and assessments.
• Prepare materials and reinforce instructional materials and skills according to student needs.
• Maintain records documenting student learning and performance.
• Support classroom behavioral management for a safe, orderly environment.
• Supervise non-instructional areas (lunch, bus, playground, study hall).
• Accompany students on field trips for supervision.
• Assist with parent contact to foster involvement.
• Assist students with special needs to maximize inclusion and achievement.
• Participate in IEP process as needed.
• Assist with activities of daily living for students with disabilities.
• Follow safety rules in student assistance.
