Job summary

Mountain Brook Schools is seeking an Instructional Aide to support classroom teachers and students in various activities. You will help in presenting learning materials, tutoring, supervising students, and handling routine clerical duties.

The role requires regular attendance and the ability to work under the supervision of a certified teacher, performing additional duties as assigned by the teacher.

Qualifications

• General concepts of child growth, development and child behavior characteristics.
• Techniques used in controlling and motivating students.
• English usage, punctuation, spelling and grammar; routine record keeping; general purposes and goals of public education; specific subject area content as required in job assignment.
• Must maintain regular attendance.

Responsibilities

• Assists instructional personnel with development and presentation of learning materials and instructional exercises.
• Tutors students individually or in small groups to reinforce and follow-up learning activity.
• Oversees and supervises students during classroom activities, in the library and on field trips.
• Assists in the development of a variety of instructional materials.
• Performs clerical duties such as filing, typing or duplicating materials.
• Maintains student records, attendance and files.
• Operates instructional media, office machines and equipment.
• Maintains discipline in the absence of the teacher.
• Works under supervision of a certified teacher and performs additional duties assigned by the teacher.
• All other duties as assigned.
