Job summary

Simple Staffing Inc. is hiring an Instructional Assistant on behalf of International Leadership of Texas in Grand Prairie, TX.

The role provides instructional support to students under the supervision of a certified teacher and includes preparing instructional materials and assisting with classroom activities. They will supervise students during the day, aid in scoring tests, help maintain classroom records, and assist substitutes.

Qualifications

• Education credentials as listed (preferred).
• Alternative: high school diploma with ESSA assessment.
• Ability to assist in reading, writing, and mathematics.

Responsibilities

• Provide instruction to students under the direction of a teacher.
• Assist in preparing instructional materials and classroom displays.
• Assist with administration and scoring of tests and assignments.
• Help maintain a neat and orderly classroom.
• Assist with inventory, care, and maintenance of equipment.
• Help teacher keep administrative records and reports.
• Provide orientation and assistance to substitute teachers.
• Supervise students during school hours (lunch, bus, playground).
• Notify teachers of special needs or problems of individual students.
• Participate in staff development and faculty meetings as assigned.
• Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Primary Purpose:

Provide instructional assistance to students under the direct supervision of a certified teacher. Assist in preparing, conducting, and managing of classroom activities.

Qualifications:

Education/Certification:

• 48+ Earned College Credits, Associates degree, Bachelors and/or Masters Degree at a U.S Department of Education recognized accredited institution of higher learning (Preferred)
• OR High School Diploma if formal academic assessment is passed as required by Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA)

Special Knowledge/Skills:

• Ability to assist in instructing reading, writing, and mathematics
• Ability to work well with children
• Ability to communicate effectively

Experience:

• Some experience working with children

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

Instructional Support

1. 1. Provide instruction to students under the direction of teacher; work with individual students or small groups.
2. 2. Assist teacher in preparing instructional materials and classroom displays.
3. 3. Assist with administration and scoring of objective testing instruments or work assignments.
4. 4. Help maintain neat and orderly classroom.
5. 5. Help with inventory, care, and maintenance of equipment.
6. 6. Help teacher keep administrative records and prepare required reports.
7. 7. Provide orientation and assistance to substitute teachers.

Student Management

1. 8. Help supervise students throughout school day, inside and outside classroom. This includes lunchroom, bus, and playground duty.
2. 9. Make teacher aware of special needs or problems of individual students.

Other

1. 10. Participate in staff development training programs to improve job performance.
2. 11. Participate in faculty meeting and special events as assigned.
