Instructional Aid Associate Specialist

Department: Arts and Sciences | Chemistry and Biochemistry

The Instructional Aid Associate Specialist provides operational support and leadership for the General Chemistry teaching laboratories. The position supports the General Chemistry Prep Lab Manager in preparing reagents, equipment, instruments, and laboratory spaces for scheduled experiments and independently oversees the day-to-day operation of the General Chemistry Lab Support Window. The position works with Lab Supervisors, Teaching Assistants, and student employees to support the effective and safe operation of the General Chemistry teaching laboratories. The position trains and provides direction to student employees, maintains and troubleshoots laboratory equipment and instrumentation, performs chemical analysis and waste management, and coordinates equipment and facility maintenance and repairs. The position also assists the General Chemistry Prep Lab Manager with the development, testing, troubleshooting, and implementation of new laboratory experiments and procedures. Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in chemistry or biochemistry, or equivalent experience.

Additional Information

The pay range for this job profile is $20.24 to $26.44. The offer for this position will fall within this range based on internal equity, unit's available budget, and the candidate's qualifications.
