Job summary

Cuyahoga Community College seeks a full-time tenure-track Chemistry faculty member to teach majors and non-majors in face-to-face, blended, or online settings.

The role requires MS in Chemistry (Doctorate preferred) and college teaching experience, with strong communication and organizational skills. The position includes standard hours, office hours, and duties across instruction and service.

Responsibilities

• Teach a full range of chemistry courses in various environments (face-to-face, blended, online).
• Prepare and deliver lectures; evaluate and grade student work.
• Prepare syllabi, homework assignments and handouts.
• Stay current with field developments by reading literature and attending conferences.
• Maintain attendance records and grades.
• Facilitate and moderate classroom discussions; advise students on curricula and careers.
• Plan, evaluate and revise curricula and instructional materials.
• Create and grade examinations; collaborate with colleagues on teaching and research.
• Maintain regular office hours to assist students.
• Select and obtain materials and lab equipment; participate in committees and events.
• Collaborate with colleagues on teaching and research issues.
• This is a full-time tenure track role with potential campus assignments.

• Prepares and delivers lectures to students on various topics in relation to a specific discipline
  
• Evaluates and grades students’ class work, laboratory work, assignments and papers
  
• Prepares course materials such as syllabi, homework assignments and handouts
  
• Keeps abreast of developments in the field by reading current literature, speaking with colleagues and participating in professional conferences
  
• Maintains student attendance records, grades and other required records
  
• Initiates, facilitates and moderates classroom discussions
  
• As needed, advises students on academic and vocational curricula and on career issues
  
• Plans, evaluates and revises curricula, course content and course materials and methods of instruction
  
• Compiles, administers and grades examinations
  
• Collaborates with colleagues to address teaching and research issues
  
• Maintains regularly scheduled office hours to advise and assist students
  
• Selects and obtains materials and supplies such as textbooks and laboratory equipment
  
• Serves on academic or administrative committees that deal with institutional policies, department matters and academic issues

RequiredQualifications:

• Master of Science Degree in Chemistry

This is a full-time tenure track faculty opportunity.The selected faculty member hired for this position could teach at any one ofthe College's campuses or sites.

Total Compensation & Benefits:
Target Hiring Rate/Salary:$58,165 with B.A. plus 30 semester hours (45quarter credits) or M.A. degree; Education less than or more than stated willaffect minimum salary. This salary reflects a nine (9) month contract period.Faculty can work during summer sessions to earn additional wages.
