University of Wisconsin–Madison is seeking an Instruction Coordinator within the Libraries, Teaching & Learning Programs. The role leads coordination of undergrad Communication-A instructional services and collaborates with science/engineering libraries to develop engaging, research-focused instruction.
The position oversees Student Library Instructors, mentors iSchool students, and contributes to LIS practicums while advancing library services through ongoing professional development.

The Instruction Coordinator serves as a member of the University of Wisconsin-Madison Libraries' Teaching & Learning Programs (TLP) office. TLP leads the library instruction program, online learning development, the Go Big Read common reading program, and instructional engagement & outreach for campus libraries.
As a member of the TLP office, this position leads the coordination of the Libraries’ instructional services for the undergraduate Communication-A requirement. This position plays a central role in designing, delivering, and assessing library instruction that supports student learning and research. The Instruction Coordinator will also collaborate closely with the Science and Engineering Libraries and Undergraduate Library Services Instruction Coordinators to develop instructional strategies, materials, and engagements with campus course coordinators and instructors.
This position will contribute to training the next generation of library instructors by leading the Student Library Instructors program, which includes recruiting, managing, and mentoring University of Wisconsin-Madison Information School (iSchool) students that teach library instruction sessions. Additionally this position provides support for the Library and Information Sciences Teaching & Learning Practicum (LIS 862).
The role also includes ongoing professional development, participation in professional organizations, and service on library and campus committees to advance the mission of the Libraries. The position supports the Libraries’ broader mission of fostering student success through innovative and responsive instructional services.
The successful candidate will perform a variety of duties, including, but not limited to:
Chairs the Communication-A Coordination Committee and provides programmatic coordination of library instruction for the Communication-A undergraduate requirement.
Provides significant instructional services for undergraduate Communication-A courses by designing, developing, and delivering library instruction in a variety of formats.
Leads the Student Library Instructor Program for Teaching & Learning Programs, including hiring, training, and supervising students.
Collaborates with Teaching & Learning Programs staff to foster community and provide professional development for library staff
Keeps current with developments in pedagogy and librarianship through engagement in local, regional, and national professional organizations and professional development.
This position is eligible for partial remote work. A remote work agreement may allow for a maximum of 40% remote per week.
This position is full-time, 100%.

Starting salary will be based on experience and qualifications. Well-qualified applicants can anticipate earning between $63,000- $78,000, with final salary based on experience and qualifications.

Demonstrated experience providing information literacy instruction, secondary instruction, or post-secondary instruction
Demonstrated experience coordinating, leading, or managing instructional programs, projects, or initiatives
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with faculty, instructors, students, and library colleagues.
Experience with mentoring or supervising student staff and/or early-career professionals
Experience with curriculum development and/or instructional design
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
Experience assessing student learning and using assessment results to improve instruction
Master’s degree required in Library and Information Science (MLIS) or equivalent.
