Job summary

Brown County Jail is seeking a kitchen staff member to prepare meals for inmates and staff, manage supplies, and maintain sanitation in a busy jail kitchen. You will work under the Jail Administrator with adherence to Serve Safe and county policies, ensuring safe, nutritious meals and compliance with dietary requirements.

Responsibilities include ordering from contracted providers, inventory control, labor supervision, and maintaining accurate records.

Qualifications

• Read, write and perform basic math.
• 1–2 years of similar food service experience or apprenticeship.
• Possession of Serve Safe certification or ability to obtain it.

Responsibilities

• Prepare meals for inmates and staff.
• Purchase food supplies from contracted providers.
• Maintain kitchen inventory and equipment.
• Store food in designated areas and ensure proper labeling.
• Clean and sanitize work areas, equipment, and utensils.
• Wash dishes and pans and manage ware washing.
• Prepare food for special diets and dietary guidelines.
• Direct work of part-time staff and inmate workers.
