Job summary

George Street Playhouse in New Brunswick, NJ seeks a proactive Development Manager to lead institutional giving, managing a portfolio of corporate, foundation, and government funders, and to craft persuasive grant proposals and reports.

Reporting to the Director of Advancement, the role requires strong writing, research, donor cultivation, and timely management of deadlines; in‑person, salaried position with standard hours and events.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required.
• Minimum 2 years of fundraising or grant writing experience.
• Proven success writing persuasive grant proposals and reports.
• Experience pursuing government grants preferred but not required.
• Strong donor cultivation and prospecting skills.
• Excellent written, verbal, organizational and project management skills.

Responsibilities

• Manage a portfolio of corporate, foundation, government, and individual donors.
• Research, write, and submit grant proposals and reports, including government grants.
• Develop and maintain an annual grants calendar with deadlines.
• Identify new funding prospects and conduct outreach, including meetings.
• Represent George Street Playhouse in meetings and donor events.
• Collaborate with other departments to develop fundable projects.
• Maintain donor records in Tessitura.
• Assist with donor stewardship, sponsorship fulfillment, and events.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Advancement.
