Job summary

Avamere Living is seeking a PRN Cook in Portland, OR to prepare meals for residents under the supervision of the Culinary Services Manager. You will assist with inventory management, diet considerations, and ensure compliance with safety and sanitation policies.

The role emphasizes accurate portioning, timely meal production, and supervision of dietary staff in the manager's absence. Experience in institutional kitchens is preferred, with required Food Handlers and CPR/BLS certifications.

Qualifications

• Requires attention to detail for reading recipes and production sheets.
• Must possess a current Food Handlers card.
• Must have CPR/BLS certification and maintain it during employment.
• Demonstrated knowledge of high standards of food preparation, sanitation, and safety.
• Previous experience in institutional food preparation preferred.

Responsibilities

• Review menus and follow recipes during preparation.
• Manage purchased food and dietary supplies to control usage and waste.
• Maintain portion control and ensure proper serving temperatures per regs.
• Inspect special diet trays for accuracy.
• Maintain storage, inventory, and receiving of food and supplies.
• Orient and coach staff on sanitation, safety, and equipment usage.
• Supervise dietary personnel in the absence of the Culinary Services Manager.
• Report hazardous conditions and accidents per policy.
• Assist in keeping food storage areas clean and organized.
