Job summary

Hotwire Communications, LTD in Boynton Beach, FL seeks an Installation Technician responsible for quality installation practices and customer training during installation of video, voice, and internet services. You will assist activation, install and service video, telephone and internet, and pull CAT5/6 drop wires.

The role requires minimum 3 years of experience, fiber optic cabling expertise, toolbox proficiency, and a valid state driver’s license.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent; Associates Degree in Internet Technologies preferred.
• Minimum 3 years’ experience installing, testing and troubleshooting cable, phone and internet.
• Fiber Optic Cabling experience required.
• Proficiency using small hand tools and larger power tools.
• Valid state driver’s license in the hiring state; clean record.
• Comfortable working on ladders and at heights.
• Cisco certifications (CCT/CCENT) and Microsoft Certifications (MCSA for Office) preferred.
• Able to work days, weekends, evenings and holidays; on-call rotation as needed.

Responsibilities

• Assist activation of fiber-optic services in subscriber homes.
• Install and service video, phone, and internet.
• Punch down telephone lines and install CAT5/CAT6 drop wire.
• Troubleshoot video, telephone, internet from demarcation to CPE.
• Test and tone drop wires from equipment room to end user location.
• Maintain safety and participate in on-call rotation.
• Other duties as assigned.

Job description

The Installation Technician will be responsible for quality installation practices and customer training during installation of services including video, voice, and internet.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Assist installation and other teams with customer activation of fiber-optic telecommunication in subscriber homes (e.g., pulling low-voltage wire); including single family, condo and apartments in various locations.
• Install and service full video services, including analog, digital, and HD TV
• Install, service, and disconnect telephone and internet customers
• Punch down telephone lines.
• Maintain a safe work environment by following safe practices and adhering to safety policies, which includes practicing safe driving techniques.
• Install all types of CAT5/CAT6 drop wire and install connectors on CAT5/CAT6 drop wire.
• Trouble shoot video, telephone and internet problems from any telecommunications demark to customer premise equipment
• Troubleshoot IP issues from any telecommunications demark to customer premise equipment.
• Successfully install all ancillary equipment provided to subscribers.
• Test and tone all drop wires from equipment room to end user location.
• Work on an on-call schedule rotation.
• Other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• High School Diploma or equivalent required, Associates Degree in Internet Technologies is preferred
• Must have minimum of 3 years’ experience installing, testing and troubleshooting cable, phone and internet
• Must have Fiber Optic Cabling experience
• Proficiency using small hand tools and larger power tools
• Must have active and clean, non-restrictive, state issued driver’s license in State where hired.
• Must be comfortable working on a ladder and all heights
• Strong preference for Cisco certifications, CCT or CCENT entry level certificates and Microsoft Certifications, MCSA for Office
• Ability to work days, weekends, evenings and holidays and participate with on-call rotation as needed
