Job description

Join our growing packaging and automation company as our Installation Service Manager—a hands-on leader who thrives in the field and takes ownership from installation planning through start-up and customer handoff

You’ll be in the field, working directly on equipment, leading installations, solving problems, and making sure every project is completed safely, efficiently, and to customer expectations. With up to 80% nationwide travel, you’ll serve as a key customer-facing representative, collaborating closely with customers, contractors, Sales, Engineering, Operations, and suppliers

The role begins as a hands-on individual contributor, with significant opportunity to grow. As our installation business expands, you’ll have the opportunity to build and lead an installation and service team, including technicians and other field resources

What You’ll Do
  • Lead Hands-On Installations: Personally lead and participate in equipment installation, assembly, startup, testing, adjustments, and troubleshooting
  • Own Projects: Manage installations from pre-planning through on-site execution, punch-list completion, and customer sign-off
  • Plan & Coordinate: Review drawings and site requirements; develop schedules, budgets, and resource plans; and coordinate materials, labor, contractors, and FATs
  • Solve Problems: Troubleshoot field issues and partner with Engineering and internal teams to develop practical solutions
  • Lead the Customer Experience: Serve as the primary on-site representative, coordinating customers, contractors, vendors, and internal teams while ensuring safe, professional execution
  • Improve & Support: When not traveling, support installation planning, equipment assembly, technical development, Engineering and Operations, and continuous improvement
  • Build the Team: Start as a hands-on individual contributor with the opportunity to develop and lead a growing installation and service team
  • Travel: Travel up to 80% nationwide, with occasional weekend travel based on customer needs
  • Document & Communicate: Clearly communicate project status, issues, changes, and requirements while documenting installations, punch-list items, and customer acceptance
Qualifications
  • 8+ years of hands-on technical, maintenance, field service, or installation experience
  • Experience installing and servicing packaging equipment or automated systems
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and basic fabrication skills
  • Ability to read mechanical drawings, layouts, specifications, and installation documentation
  • Independent troubleshooting and practical problem-solving skills
  • Strong customer-facing communication and project coordination abilities
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities independently
  • Willingness and ability to travel up to 80% nationwide
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel throughout the U.S.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Industrial equipment, automation, or material-handling experience
  • Electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, or controls experience
  • Experience developing installation or field-service processes
  • Experience building or leading a field service or installation team
  • Required trade, contractor, or specialty licenses
Why This Role?

This is more than an installation position. You’ll have a direct impact on customer success, help shape how installations are delivered, and have the opportunity to build a service organization as the business grows

If you’re a hands-on problem solver who enjoys travel, customer interaction, complex equipment, and seeing a project go from “ready to install” to “up and running,” this is an opportunity to make your mark
