Job summary

YWCA Tri-County Area in Pottstown, PA is hiring a K-5 School Age Teacher for our STARS 4 Early Education Center. You will create a safe, nurturing classroom, deliver engaging activities, and document children’s progress for families and staff.

Requirements include 2+ years of child education experience, CPR/First Aid, background checks, and a commitment to inclusive, developmentally appropriate practice. This full-time, non-exempt role offers a competitive salary and benefits, with opportunities

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED with college credit in ECE or CDA or 9 ECE credits.
• Minimum of 2 years’ experience working with children.
• Infant/child CPR and First Aid certification.
• Background checks required by policy.
• Current Health Assessment and TB test.
• Keystone STARS familiarity is a plus.
• CACFP Regulations familiarity is a plus.
• ITERS and ECERS familiarity is a plus.
• Ability to work independently; goal oriented.
• Commitment to the YW3CA mission and values.

Responsibilities

• Develop engaging lesson plans aligning with standards and developmental goals.
• Supervise safety during swimming and water play in summer camps.
• Provide break coverage across all age groups.
• Implement curriculum activities and encourage participation.
• Lead classroom activities and manage materials.
• Model self-help and hygiene habits.
• Ensure smooth daily transitions from home to center.
• Comply with center policies and state regulations.
• Maintain a personal professional development plan.
• Communicate daily with parents and staff.
• Maintain a healthy, safe, and secure classroom environment.
• Record daily observations of children’s progress.
• Attend in-service training and monthly staff meetings.
• Uphold confidentiality of children and family records.
• Complete special projects as directed by supervisor.
• Guide families using the PEACE model for problem-solving.
• Use inclusive language and Conscious Discipline skills.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
