Job summary

Baltimore City Public Schools is seeking an Army JROTC instructor to support high school cadets and assist the Senior Army Instructor in delivering the national education curriculum, planning events, and supervising co-curricular activities.

The role requires teaching and assessing cadet progress, coordinating leadership events, and maintaining communication with parents and staff while upholding discipline and Army standards.

Qualifications

• Retired Army active duty or National Guard NCOs (E6–E9) or Commissioned Officers (O3–O6).
• Eligible to obtain Federal JROTC instructor certification.
• Associates degree for NCO or Bachelor's degree for Warrant/Commissioned Officer.
• Meet current height and weight standards per Army regs.
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, and automation technology skills.
• Willing to wear the Service uniform and meet grooming standards.
• Demonstrated troop level experience.

Responsibilities

• Teach, assess, evaluate, and document student progress.
• Evaluate progress and tailor materials to student needs.
• Instruct Army curriculum and related activities in classroom and leadership lab.
• Administer 180 hours of military-directed material.
• Advise and appraise extracurricular teams (drill, rifle, PT, academic challenge).
• Coordinate cadet leadership positions and develop cadet behavior.
