Job summary

The Hattiesburg Public School District is seeking a JROTC Assistant Army Instructor to support the Senior Army Instructor in administering the high school JROTC program and its daily operations.

You will work with a diverse student body to foster leadership, discipline, and teamwork, aligning instruction with Cadet Command regulations and district policies. The role emphasizes safety, instructional quality, and program integrity.

Qualifications

• Retired Army Noncommissioned Officer in ranks E-6 through E-9.
• Approved by U.S. Army Cadet Command to administer a high school JROTC program.
• Proper certification as required by the Mississippi Educator Licensure Department.
• Appropriate endorsement and training for assigned course(s).

Responsibilities

• Oversees the entire JROTC program at the building.
• Complies with all regulatory guidelines outlined in Cadet Command Regulations.
• Positively fostering students' self-esteem.
• Working with and understanding a diverse student population.
• Integration of leadership, technology, and communication into the curriculum.
• Planning for and guiding the learning process to help students achieve program objectives.
• Implementing useful diagnostic and progress assessment measures.
• Selecting and using effective instructional methods and learning materials
• Establishing a cooperative relationship with all assigned students.
• Working collaboratively to achieve the overall purpose of the school's program and support the District's vision, aims and goals.
• Integrates the themes of leadership, technology, and communication with a diverse population.
• Provides quality work that engages students in learning.
• Possesses knowledge of subject matter content.
• Differentiates instruction for a variety of developmental stages and ability levels.
• Implements adopted curriculum subject matter standards and assessment instruments to meet school and district goals.
• Provides a physical environment that is safe, orderly, hazard-free, and conducive to learning.
• Implements approved disciplinary measures to allow for effective instruction and classroom management.
• Relates to parents and other community members, individual and corporate, in a positive and helpful fashion.
• Writes, speaks, and presents instruction in a clear, concise, and well-planned manner.
• Participates in self-initiated and school/district-initiated professional growth in order to maintain licensure and support school improvement efforts.
• Adheres to policies and procedures established by district, state, and federal guidelines.
• Submits required reports efficiently, promptly, and accurately.
• Inventories classroom materials, textbooks, and equipment.
• Accepts the responsibilities of co-curricular and extra-curricular duties as assigned by administration.
• Participates in departmental/grade-level teams, school-level teams, and district-level committees as requested.
• Attends school-related functions (e.g. PTA) outside the instructional day.
• Demonstrates prompt and regular attendance.
• Supports the Hattiesburg Public School District Mission, Vision, and Strategic Plan.
• Perform other duties assigned by supervisor.
