Job summary

Lititz Christian School in Lititz, PA is seeking a Long-Term Substitute Secondary History Teacher for Grades 9–12 from mid-February to early June to maintain continuity of instruction. The substitute will implement established curriculum, deliver engaging history and social studies instruction, and support student learning.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required in History, Social Studies, Education, or related field.
• Pennsylvania teaching certification in Social Studies preferred; candidates eligible for appropriate certification may be considered.
• Demonstrated knowledge of history and social studies content.
• Strong instructional, organizational, communication, and classroom management skills.

Responsibilities

• Implement established curriculum, lesson plans, and instructional materials provided by the school or regular classroom teacher.
• Deliver engaging instruction in history and social studies courses, adapting lessons as needed to meet student learning needs.
• Utilize a variety of instructional strategies to promote critical thinking, historical inquiry, and student engagement.
• Incorporate technology and multimedia resources to support instruction.
• Maintain appropriate pacing and instructional continuity throughout the assignment.
• Evaluate student learning through assignments, quizzes, tests, projects, and other assessments.
• Provide timely and constructive feedback to students.
• Maintain accurate attendance, grade, and student progress records.
• Communicate concerns regarding student performance or academic needs to the appropriate school personnel.
• Establish and maintain clear classroom expectations, routines, and procedures.
• Foster a respectful, safe, and supportive classroom environment.
• Address student behavior consistently and appropriately in accordance with school policies.
• Build positive relationships with students while maintaining appropriate professional boundaries.
• Collaborate with department colleagues, school administration, and other faculty to support instructional continuity.
• Communicate regularly with administration regarding classroom needs, student concerns, and instructional progress.
• Maintain appropriate communication with parents and guardians as directed by school administration.
• Participate in relevant faculty meetings and school activities as requested.
• Fulfill other reasonable instructional and supervisory responsibilities associated with the teaching assignment.
• Support the school's mission, values, and expectations for professional conduct.
