The Merit School is seeking a dedicated First Grade Teacher for the 2026-2027 school year. You will design and deliver engaging lessons, manage a classroom of young learners, and maintain a positive, orderly learning environment.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in ECE or Elementary Education required (Bachelor's preferred).
• Minimum 1 year field-related experience with young children in a school setting or childcare facility.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Commitment to upholding standards for high quality education at every level.
• Meet the individual needs of the children, interact with all children to support learning and play.
• Implement developmentally appropriate lesson plans and activities.
• Participate in required teacher and staff trainings.
• Establish positive and effective communication and relationships with children, families, and staff.
• Must have reliable attendance and accountability.
• Flexibility to work hours based on the needs of the school and program.
• Successful background check and VA licensing standards required.
