Job summary

Highlands School in Highlands, NC seeks an Exceptional Children’s (EC) Teacher to provide specialized instruction for students with disabilities under IDEA and NC policies. The role focuses on developing and implementing IEPs, aligning instruction with NC SCOS, and promoting academic and behavioral growth in inclusive settings.

The EC teacher will collaborate with general education staff and related service providers, monitor progress with data, and engage families in the education process.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Special Education or related field.
• Valid North Carolina Exceptional Children teaching license.
• Knowledge of IDEA and NCDPI EC policies.
• Ability to meet all NCDPI and Macon County employment requirements.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and monitor IEPs in line with IDEA and NC policies.
• Provide specially designed instruction to meet diverse needs.
• Differentiate instruction to support various exceptionalities.
• Collaborate with general education teachers to support inclusion.
• Collect and analyze data to track progress toward IEP goals.
• Participate in IEP meetings and communicate with families.
