Job summary

Ann Arbor Public Schools seeks an ASD Self-Contained high school teacher at Skyline High School. This 1.0 FTE position reports to the building principal and follows the district's teacher salary schedule.

The candidate will design individualized education programs, use ABA and TEACCH approaches, collaborate with itinerant staff and parents, and participate in IEP meetings and professional development.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Special Education is required.
• Master's in related field (ASD or Speech/Language preferred) is desirable.
• Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate with endorsements in Special Education; ASD endorsement preferred.
• Three years of satisfactory teaching experience, including experience with students with disabilities is desired.

Responsibilities

• Plan individual educational programs meeting student needs and curriculum guidelines.
• Modify and implement strategies for students on the autism spectrum.
• Participate inAssistive Technology planning and implement supports.
• Data collection and progress monitoring.
• Assist students with activities of daily living.
• Implement Health Care Plans under supervision of school nurse.
• Collaborate with itinerant staff and general education staff.
• Plan for and supervise support staff.
• Communicate with parents/caregivers.
• Attend and participate in IEP and professional development meetings.
• Other duties as assigned by Administrator.
