Job summary

Edina Public Schools is seeking a 6th grade science long-term substitute to begin as soon as possible and continue through the end of October. The teacher will develop students' science skills across general science, earth science, biology, chemistry, and physics, following district curriculum.

The role requires a valid science license, strong classroom management, and the ability to design engaging lessons, assess student progress, and communicate with families.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of current teaching methods and science pedagogy.
• Ability to design engaging science lessons across topics (general science, earth science, biology, chemistry, physics).
• Experience with classroom management and student assessment.

Responsibilities

• Teach science per district curriculum across multiple science domains.
• Develop and implement lesson plans and learning experiences.
• Assess student progress and adapt instruction to student needs.
• Maintain accurate records of grades and attendance and communicate with parents.
• Create safe, supportive classroom environment and coordinate with staff.
