Job summary

HNTB in Indianapolis is seeking a Construction Inspector to perform daily inspection of water main extensions and ensure compliance with plans and contract provisions in the Indianapolis area.

You will maintain daily logs, review discrepancies with the Team Lead, conduct on-site material testing, and prepare as-constructed sketches. Requirements include a high school diploma or GED and 3 years of construction-related experience, plus required certificates.

• All required jurisdictional certificates and state requirements.

Responsibilities

• Observes, documents, and verifies work in progress to ensure compliance with contract documents and plans.
• Performs standard measurements and calculations of completed work.
• Maintains daily inspector logs of activities, labor, equipment, and materials.
• Conducts on-site material testing and produces as-constructed sketches.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

This opportunity entails being responsible for providing daily inspection of multiple private development water main extensions, routine activities within a given discipline/trade performed by contractor in order to monitor the project's compliance with plans, specifications, and other contract provisions. Maintains daily logs of inspection work which is assigned and reviews discrepancies or changes with Team Lead. Work will be located in the Indianapolis area.

What You'll Do

• Observes, documents, and verifies work in progress by the construction contractor to ensure compliance with contract documents and plans. Confirms procedures are followed and material used conforms to specifications.
• Utilizes engineering inspection practices to perform standard mathematical calculations and measurements of completed work to date.
• Maintains Inspector's daily report of assigned work activities, contactor labor and equipment, quantity of material received and verified.
• Performs on-site material testing and produces as-constructed sketches as required.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

What You'll Need

• High School Diploma/GED or equivalent and 3 years of construction related experience.

What We Prefer

• 5 Years experience in Water, Wastewater, and or Storm installation
• Familiar with Microsoft, and computer operations
• Capable of problem solving and interacting with contractors and developers
