Job summary

Regal Rexnord in Downers Grove, IL is seeking an onsite Quality Inspector to cover Final, Heat Treat, Plating, and other inspection areas. You will support shift-wide quality objectives, maintain documentation, and assist when bottlenecks occur.

This role emphasizes adherence to safety rules and timely production targets. You will work with a team to ensure NCRs are created for discrepancies and that metrology and gauging are set up accurately.

Qualifications

  • Requires US Person with permanent residence (US Citizen or Green Card).
  • AS9102 First Article Inspection knowledge and quality planning tools.
  • Understanding ISO/AS quality systems and aviation standards.
  • Strong math aptitude and blueprint interpretation.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office 2000+.

Responsibilities

  • Perform inspection operations across Final, Heat Treat, Plating, Receiving, OSP, In-Process, and First Article stages.
  • Create NCRs and remove nonconforming material.
  • Maintain SQDC metrics and ensure procedural compliance.
  • Document inspection data and organize paperwork at shift end.
  • Coordinate with Quality to ensure smooth area flow and cover absences.
  • Escalate quality issues or stoppages promptly.
  • Set up and verify gauges per specifications and assist in gauging design.

Job description

Work Model: This is a fully onsite role, with work performed at your designated Regal Rexnord office.

This position covers several areas of Inspection responsibility throughout the facility. This position is a critical link between the shop floor associates, and the engineering specifications and requirements. The person in this role will ensure that performance standards are met and take appropriate action where necessary to meet agreed deadlines, quality performance, and production targets. The role also includes cross training throughout the department and assisting when there is a bottleneck in an inspection area, vacation fill‑ins, or managing absences. You will be responsible for supporting team cohesion within the department and the facility and lead by example.

Working hours: 8am-4pm

Key accountabilities
  • Ensure strict adherence to and implementation of Company Safety and Work rules.
  • Performs inspection operations in each of the following areas:
    • Final Inspection
    • Heat Treat Inspection
    • Plating Inspection
    • Receiving QC Inspection
    • Pre/Post OSP Inspection
    • In-Process Inspection
    • First Article Inspection
  • Responsible for creation of nonconformance documentation (NCRs) when discrepancies are detected at any inspection stage. Removal of the discrepant material from the production areas.
  • Maintain and support SQDC (Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost) metrics in all areas assigned.
  • Ensure that all quality requirements are being followed including procedural compliance and defect reporting. Act as a liaison between production associates and quality requirements.
  • Maintaining all inspection data during daily inspections and responsible for ensuring all paperwork is in its proper place at the end of the shift.
  • Communicate and coordinate with other members of the Quality team to ensure that all areas flow efficiently. Aid in absenteeism coverage to ensure all production requirements are met.
  • Escalate production and assembly quality issues or work stoppages caused by a quality issue immediately.
  • Set up and adjust gauges using required equipment or masters per specification requirements. This includes periodic verifications of gage set‑up.
  • Work with quality engineering in the design of new or modified gauging when required.
  • Ability to help the manufacturing area in troubleshooting and resolving gage issues.
Qualifications
  • This position requires the applicant to be a US Person with a US permanent residence. A US Person is a US Citizen or Green card holder.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 2-3 years of Inspection experience in a manufacturing environment demonstrating increasing accountability.
  • 2-3 years previous Aerospace DSQR experience preferred.
  • Qualified experience, ASQ Certified CQT CMI a plus.
  • Thorough knowledge of the AS9102 (FAI's) First Article Inspection process, and Quality Planning tools (including SPC, GR&R, Cpk, GD&T, DMAIC, First Piece Inspection, Cost of Quality).
  • Understanding and basic knowledge of all aviation industry compliance standards required, including ISO and AS 9000 quality systems, ISO 10012, AS9100, ISO9001, FAA FAR regulations.
  • Strong application knowledge of calibration and metrology systems including the development, improving, and approving gauging methodologies and design. Qualifications should include general or application knowledge of; quality assurance systems, Geometric dimensioning and tolerancing, blue print interpretation, and process capability analysis.
  • Effective communication skills - strong written and verbal communication skills. Including developing, implementing, and maintaining procedures, work instructions, and related forms that support the Quality system.
  • Basic math aptitude.
  • Working knowledge of engineering part drawings and general understanding of metallurgy; ability to understand the physical and mechanical properties of metals as affected by composition, mechanical working and heat treatments including metal cutting and grinding is desirable.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in time and project management.
  • Training and experience in Microsoft Office 2000 or greater.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds repetitively throughout the shift.
