Job summary

Terex Corporation is seeking a Quality Inspector to inspect finished ambulances for defects and regulatory conformance, perform electrical and cosmetic tests, and document results. You will interpret engineering drawings, work with measuring tools, and communicate findings in English.

The role requires basic PC skills and the ability to lift up to 40 lbs, with rotation across inspection gates. Three years of Horton electrical installation experience and a high school diploma are preferred, with

Responsibilities

  • Understand engineering drawings and customer specifications.
  • Inspect ambulances for defects and conformance to standards; perform electrical load, function tests, and road tests.
  • Perform electrical and cosmetic inspections.
  • Document inspection results in reports and logs; summarize re-work and waste.
  • Maintain safety and wear appropriate PPE; lift up to 40 lbs as needed.
  • Rotate through multiple inspection gates and coordinate with quality supervisor.

Job description

Primary Functions

Ensure that customers both internal and external receive the quality emergency vehicle that they expect by inspecting the emergency vehicle and making any necessary repairs or corrections prior to shipment.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Understand engineering drawings and customer specifications
  • Inspection of finished ambulances to determine defects and conformance to applicable standards and regulations; perform electrical load and function testing, and perform road tests
  • Perform both electrical and cosmetic inspections
  • Document inspection results by completing reports and logs; summarizing re-work and waste; inputting data into the quality database
  • Possess good mechanical aptitude
  • Have knowledge of basic 12‑volt electrical systems
  • Understand and use measuring tools such as rulers, calipers, gauges, or micrometers
  • Follow verbal and written directions in English
  • Work with minimal supervision or none
  • Set work priorities to meet production goals as scheduled
  • Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships
  • Communicate effectively in English
  • Use good interpersonal skills to communicate problems verbally
  • Rotate and learn multiple quality inspection gates
  • Handle multiple assignments daily as required
  • Assist quality supervisor in quality and production improvements
Qualifications
  • Familiar with all quality standards and test protocols
  • Valid Ohio driver’s license
  • Effective at interpreting mechanical and electrical schematics
  • Read, write, comprehend, and verbally communicate simple instructions, short correspondence and memos in English
  • Present information effectively in one-on-one and small group situations to other employees of the organization
  • Use safety equipment properly
  • Read and follow written instructions and specifications
  • Good PC skills with knowledge of Excel, Word, and Outlook
  • Good hand‑eye coordination
  • Build relationships between quality, production and coworkers
Experience
  • Three years’ experience in Horton electrical installation and troubleshooting
  • Previous experience in quality control or quality assurance environment preferred
  • High school degree; further qualifications are a plus
  • Customer service experience
