Position Overview

The Illinois Department of Children and Family Services is seeking an organized, professional, and results-oriented individual to serve as an Office of Inspector General Investigations Attorney. Under general direction, this position will perform legal work related to confidential investigations, including conducting sensitive investigations into child deaths, injuries, and misconduct allegations involving Department or private agency staff. The role involves applying legal methods, analyzing evidence under federal and state statutes, and preparing detailed reports. The ideal candidate will have excellent organizational and leadership skills and a strong commitment to investigating misconduct allegations.

Essential Functions

• Serve as the Office of Inspector General Investigations Attorney.
• Conduct child welfare employee licensure investigations in Cook County and Northern Illinois.
• Represent the Department in prosecuting CWEL cases in the Administrative Hearings Unit.
• Provide technical assistance in preparing the Office of Inspector General's annual report to the Governor and General Assembly.
• Draft rules, regulations, and summaries of statutes with approval from supervisors and the Inspector General.
• Perform other duties within the scope of the position as required.
