Pye-Barker Fire & Safety is seeking an Inspector Apprentice to perform testing, inspection, troubleshooting, and basic maintenance of fire protection systems, including sprinklers and alarms. You will inspect components, read blueprints, and document findings to ensure compliance with codes and standards.
This role requires a high school diploma and a valid driver's license; experience with commercial fire suppression is preferred.

The Inspector Apprentice is responsible for performing testing, inspection, troubleshooting, and basic maintenance of fire protection systems including extinguishers, alarms and sprinklers. The Inspector ensures systems operate properly, meet customer expectations, and comply with applicable codes and standards.
Perform testing, inspection, troubleshooting, and basic maintenance of fire suppression systems
Inspect valves, gauges, piping, sprinkler heads, alarm connections, and related suppression system components.
Perform functional testing to verify proper system operation and compliance with applicable codes, standards, and customer requirements.
Identify deficiencies, recommend corrective actions, and communicate findings clearly to customers and supervisors.
Read and interpret blueprints, system layouts, inspection reports, and technical manuals.
Use hand tools and testing equipment to complete inspection work efficiently and safely.
Complete inspection reports, deficiency documentation, and service records accurately and on time.
Communicate professionally with customers, team members, and supervisors regarding job progress and system status.
Follow all company safety procedures and customer site requirements.
Travel to job sites as required.
Other duties as assigned by management.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record, if driving role .
Ability to read and interpret technical documents and system drawings.
Experience with commercial fire suppression systems and inspection compliance requirements preferred.
Adheres to the Code of Conduct, Confidentiality Agreement, and Company Safety Policy.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Ability to perform physical tasks including lifting, climbing ladders, and working in various environments.
Ability to lift 50+ pounds.
Work performed in commercial, industrial, and construction environments.
Exposure to varying conditions including heights, confined spaces, and active job sites.
Use of hand tools and testing equipment.
Ability to stand, walk, bend, and kneel for extended periods.
