Job summary

Pye-Barker Fire & Safety in Colorado Springs seeks a Fire Alarm Test & Inspect Technician to independently inspect, test, and troubleshoot fire alarm systems while adhering to NFPA standards and local codes. You will document results, communicate findings to customers and internal teams, and travel to job sites as required.

The role requires a high school diploma, 3+ years in fire and life safety, and relevant certifications; NICET Level 2+ is highly preferred.

The Fire Alarm Test & Inspect Technician is responsible for independently performing inspection, testing, and basic troubleshooting of fire alarm systems. This position can complete standard jobs without direct supervision and ensures compliance with all applicable codes and standards.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Independently perform fire alarm inspections and testing per NFPA standards and local codes.
• Conduct device activation, system functionality checks, and alarm verification.

Education/Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 3+ years of experience in the fire and life safety industry as a technician.
• Sprinkler ASCR2, Kitchen Suppression & Extinguisher KHFE2, Fire Hydrant CTFH2, and/or Backflow ASSE certifications highly preferred.
• Minimum of 2 years experience performing NFPA inspections.
• CSA FA2 Certification or PPRBD FA1 or FA-1 license highly preferred.
• Working knowledge of NFPA 72 and applicable codes.
• NICET Level 2 or above highly preferred.
• Independently capable in core technical functions.
• Able to complete standard jobs without direct supervision.

Other Duties

• Adheres to the Code of Conduct, Confidentiality Agreement, and Company Safety Policy.
• Performs other duties as assigned by management.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to perform physical tasks including lifting and climbing ladders.
• Work performed in commercial, industrial, and construction environments.
• Exposure to varying conditions including heights, confined spaces, and active job sites.
• Use of hand tools and testing equipment under supervision.
• Ability to lift 50+ pounds.

Pay Range

• $40 - $45 / per hour DOE
