DESCRIPTION OF WORK

The Department of Inspections/Planning is seeking a qualified individual with strong communication skills and the ability to interact tactfully with customers and the general public. The candidate should possess a working knowledge of sound construction practices, building codes, laws, and ordinances to perform technical inspections of residential and commercial buildings for compliance. Qualified candidates will hold a Standard Level I, II, or III Certificate and have considerable experience in HVAC, plumbing, building, and electrical trades, along with a valid NC Driver License. Demonstrated initiative and the ability to work with limited supervision are essential for this position.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or equivalent, with moderate experience in construction and possession of Level I Building, Electrical, Mechanical, and Plumbing certifications.
